Bon jour mes amies! I am writing to you from our hotel room in Paris with a view of the Eiffel Tower! Okay, a very, very tiny piece of the Eiffel Tower, but it is definitely the Eiffel Tower. We arrived in Paris on Monday after a long, hard day of travel – lots of long lines, lots of waiting, very little sleeping. I am still recovering from the jet lag!
Monday was spent doing some “housekeeping” kinds of tasks – getting Euros from the ATM, buying Museum Passes and Metro tickets, getting settled in the hotel room, reacquainting ourselves with the area.
I also had an advance ticket to climb the Eiffel Tower. Arrival day is not necessarily the best day to take on a major sightseeing task, but I didn’t have much choice – nearly all of the advanced tickets were already sold out when I went to purchase mine three weeks ago. So, needs must.
As expected, the Tower is pretty awesome. The advanced ticket got me to the second level with minimum waiting (I opted to pass on going to the very top!) The day was cloudy but the views were spectacular. Well worth the trip.
